Albany Parking Permits Review Website
Here is an interesting article from our archives:
From the Times Union dated Wed. Dec. 30, 1998 by Elizabeth Benjamin
" The president of a state employees union wrangling with the city over permit parking pledged Tuesday to support some form of the recently approved plan, but only after a 2,400 space parking garage is built.
Public Employees Federation President Roger E. Benson also reiterated several longstanding PEF demands, including a requirement that every on-street space covered under the plan be replaced by an off-street spot in the new Eagle Street garage."
Whereas: we have several studies, dating back to 1987, that show the total number of on-street parking spots in the downtown area (that area within the proposed permit location) is under 2500 spaces.
and Whereas: the Eagle Street garage has been built and contains 2400 spaces.
Therefore: the Governor (he signed the budget ) , the Mayor, the city officials, the members of the NYS Legislature (they passed the budget ), the citizens of New York (we are paying for the garage), taxpayers, voters we all built and paid for the garage mentioned above. We have lived up to our part, now it is time for PEF and Roger Benson to live up to his part.
